She's been heard singing the national anthem at NASCAR and IndyCar racing events, she's danced her feet off as part of several seasons of Dancing with the Stars, and now the multi-talented and ever-beautiful Julianne Hough has been spotted in a musical appearance at the National Guard Youth ChalleNGe Program's fourth annual ChalleNGe Champions Gala. Hough took to the stage last night alongside fellow blonde Nashville sweetheart Kellie Pickler at Washington, D.C.'s JW Marriott Hotel, performing some of the most popular songs in her repertoire for guests at this monumental National Guard gala.
Hough and Pickler were among a star-studded cast to attend the foundation's event, as NASCAR drivers Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Jeff Gordon, IndyCar driver Dan Wheldon and television celebrities Kerri Turner and Kelly Perdew were all also in attendance at the National Guard event. The ChalleNGe Champions Gala is part of the National Guard Youth Foundation (NGYF), which aims at giving high school dropouts a chance to define a career by using the program's in-residence camp and long-term mentorship to give America's youth a second chance. The sold-out event that Julianne Hough was part of also included an auction, which sold two VIP auto racing trips to the highest bidders. The National Guard gala raised more than $125,000 for the nonprofit organization.
Although she's used to being in the spotlight now for her chirpy voice and catchy country-tinged tunes, Utah native Julianne Hough grew up concentrating on her first love: dancing. Hough attended several performing arts schools and studied dance all throughout her youth, and after graduating from the prestigious Las Vegas Academy this blonde firecracker headed straight for the bright lights of California. Hough landed a gig as an assistant choreographer on a Gwen Stefani music video and from there earned a number of television cameos, scoring big when she made the cut to appear as a dancer on the 2006 season of Dancing with the Stars, which she won with partner and IndyCar driver Helio Castroneves. After defending her title in 2007, Julianne Hough made a number of promotional appearances and then set her eye on Nashville, attempting a crossover career as a vocalist.
Hough's appropriately titled debut single "Will You Dance with Me" appeared on iTunes and at Wal-Mart stores in 2007, prepping the rising vocalist for musical success to come. "Will You Dance with Me" turned heads in the recording industry and landed Hough a recording contract with Universal Music Nashville, and in 2008 Hough became even more popular as a vocalist when she released her second single, the infectious sing-a-long tune "That Song in My Head." "That Song in My Head" was, in fact, the song in everyone's heads in 2008, scoring a top spot on the country music charts while the dancer-turned-singer's eponymous debut album reached the coveted number one slot on the Top Country Albums chart.
2008's Julianne Hough was eaten up by country music fans across the country, and the phenomenal album earned Hough a spot on a Brad Paisley tour, also sparking a number of headlining performances for her, as well, Julianne Hough tickets are available now online, so get tickets to a performance and prepare to have that song in your head all day!
